warsaw trinity Core Beliefs

At Warsaw Trinity we try to keep it simple. So here's the short version

In The Gospel according to Matthew 22:37-40, Jesus proclaims the two greatest commandments. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Sometimes that's too much for us to remember, so we've shortened it to this. "Love God. Love Neighbor."

If you want slightly deeper theology, we do affirm the traditional creeds of the church:

"I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will come again to judge the livin gand the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic (universal) church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting."

Some other things you may hear around here we gather from John Wesley, the founder of the United Methodist Church. "Do no harm. Do good. Stay in love with God."

What it comes down to is the family of God that meets in this place (and that joins us online sometimes too!) seeking to love God and one another. The Bible is our main source for information on how to do that. (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV - "All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.") In good Wesleyan tradition, we work out our faith using Scripture as the base, reason, tradition and experience.
